Antique Victorian 18k Gold & Platinum Halo Ring — 1.5ct Australian Opal & Diamonds | Circa 1890

An antique halo ring from circa 1890 in 18k gold and platinum, centered on an Australian opal of approximately 1.5 carats — a stone alive with fire. Red, green, yellow, blue, violet, orange: the play of color moves across the surface of the opal with every turn of the hand, never showing the same face twice.

Australian opals are the benchmark of the species — the source of the finest and most vivid play of color found anywhere in the world. A stone displaying this full spectrum of fire.

The opal is surrounded by a halo of 20 rose-cut diamonds of approximately 0.40 carats total weight. The reverse of the setting is finely worked.
